Adjunct Professor:

History of the American Musical, Department of Theatre, Lindenwood University, January 2017-Present.

Advanced course required for Musical Theatre majors. A study of the history of the American musical from its origin, evolution, and effect on theatre today.

 

Theatre History I (In person and online hybrid), Department of Theatre, Lindenwood University, August 2017-Present.

This course presents an in-depth exploration of the development of drama in form and production from pre-history to the 1700s. Significant chronological contributions to contemporary theatre are analyzed from the standpoint of subject matter, architecture, technology and acting styles. Required of all theatre majors and open to non-majors as well.

 

Theatre History II (In person and online hybrid), Department of Theatre, Lindenwood University, January 2018-Present.

Acting I, Department of Theatre, Lindenwood University, August 2018- Present.

This course is designed to teach basic skills to the beginning actor, the course explores the techniques of concentration, relaxation, nonverbal communication, and improvisation. This course is designed for theatre majors.

 

Survey of Dramatic Literature (In person, Online and hybrid), Department of Theatre, Lindenwood University, August 2018- Present.

This course examines dramatic literature from all major periods of the Western world from ancient Greece to the present, providing an opportunity to understand the culture, history, and people that gave rise to it. The role of religion in theatre will be examined as it changes in emphasis, starting with the Greeks, to the present era, where it is almost absent. Emphasis is placed on bridging the gap that exists between the culture and time period of each play and the way in which each is presently interpreted and received. Students will contrast and relate the plays read in class to various aspects of modern culture and society. Required of all theatre majors and open to non-majors.

 

Modern Drama Department of Theatre, Lindenwood University, January 2019-Present

This course is a study of modern and contemporary drama from Ibsen to the present, including realistic, naturalistic, symbolistic, poetic, expressionist, existentialist, absurdist, "epic." and experimental plays. The background and culture of the playwright and the ways in which both influence their writing, as well as the style of the writing, will be included in the study of each play. Special attention is paid to the evolution of theatrical style and form, and the ways in which we see it modeled in popular film, theatre, television, and animation. Required of all Theatre majors also a Gen Ed class.

 

Acting Studio: Auditions Department of Theatre, Lindenwood University, January 2021-May 2021

This course is designed to teach actors how to audition, including the techniques of improvisation, monologues, cold reads, interviews and on-camera auditions. Student will learn to interpret the requirements of a casting notice, how to prepare a resume, the process of auditioning, and how to present themselves in an audition setting.

 

Directing I Department of Theatre, Lindenwood University, January 2021-May 2021

This course consists of fundamental theory and practice for the stage director. It is a required course for all Theatre Majors.

 

Fundamentals of Acting Department of Theatre, Lindenwood University, August 2021-December 2021

This course is designed for non-majors and will focus on empathizing with a character in a variety of dramatic contexts and is particularly suited for students who plan careers where role-playing is necessary and essential. Role-playing and characterization skills will be developed through a variety of acting games, improvisation scenarios, and in-depth character studies.

            (Cast of 30 students and student designers, and crew members as well. In a theatre that seated 1200.)

Advanced studio course focusing on varius components of musical theatre performance. Providing feedback, and working songs with Undergraduate and Graduate students.

Graduate Assistant: Costume Shop, Department of Theatre, Lindenwood University, August 2012- December 2013.

            Manage undergraduate work study students in construction, manage the costume collection, accounting for all productions’ costume budgets. Experience dyeing, distressing, constructing and shopping for costumes.
